Fringed Handbags: Back and here to stay!

Judging by the fall 2010 shows, fringed bags are here to stay-at least throughout 2010.  I am in love with everything from the Blumarine show, especially the bag (and the zebra boots ain't bad either).

Jimmy Choo Tita fringed clutch for $795.

Taylor Swift looked adorbs with her "fringed":

Get Taylor Swift's McFadin Medium Fringed bag for $495.

Chanel Maxi Classic: THE Bag

I know we just did a couple of posts on Chanel bags and how hot they are...but it bears repeating: specifically the Chanel Maxi Classic. If you have been waiting to purchase a Chanel bag because you are little unsure of which one to get...well this is the one to splurge on.

It is big enough to carry everyday, and rocks with jeans or leggings like Katy Perry and Lauren Conrad show-but it still works perfectly for your "lady who lunches" look.

This bag is on a very loooonng waiting list at Chanel boutiques, but you can purchase one at designersocial online for $2650.

Alexander McQueen's "Michael Jackson" inspired bag!

Is this Alexander McQueen "Thriller Faithful Glove" Clutch cool, weird, fun, sad, or all of the above?  This bag was designed by McQueen and inspired by Michael Jackson.  It features a detachable Swarovski-embellished white leather glove, similar to MJ's signature one.  (Yes, you carry it by putting your hand in the glove!). The clutch itself is made of gorge snakeskin and the zippers are hot.

However, on the heels of both of their untimely deaths, it could be considered a little creepy.  But not by us!  We think it is fun, super unique and an awesome hommage to both of them.

Available for Preorder at Saks for $1920.

Personalize your Louis Vuitton with Mon Monogram

Louis Vuitton continues to expand their online store and have announced the introduction of the Louis Vuitton Mon Monogram service. The service will allow you to customize your Louis Vuitton bag, ending up with over 200 million possible combinations on your bag of choice. The selection of bags include the iconic Speedy, historic Keepall travel bag, or the Pegase 55 wheeled cabin case.

Once you choose your item you can pick up to three initials and vertical or diagonal stripes. There are 17 color options to choose from. Once you have entered your selection the site will simulate the design for you to see what the finished product will look like.

Another brand known for customizing items like this is Goyard. Having a design house allow you to customize a signature bag from their line will ensure that your bag will stand out compared to others. I love the idea of personalizing a travel bag like the Keepall and Pegase. While I would not check a Louis Vuitton bag under a plane, I would certainly carry it on or take it in the car for weekend trips.

Pietro Beccari, Louis Vuitton Senior Vice-President comments:

“We are delighted to announce the launch of Mon Monogram on www.louisvuitton.com. For more than 150 years, this company has united tradition and innovation, and there is no better example than this initiative, which brings one of Louis Vuitton’s historic services – personalization – into the digital era. It is another great reason to explore www.louisvuitton.com.”

Alexander Wang and PVC and duffles-OH MY!

We love, love, love this Alexander Wang PVC duffle bag for Spring 2010.  This is the ubiquitous, studs on the bottom, and sold out "Coco Duffle" that had waiting lists a mile long last spring.  Wang recreated it in PVC and it's a really cool look...Now granted, if you plan on carrying anything embarrassing in your bag, this isn't the one for you-but if you like to keep things pretty tidy, this bag is HOT!  Plan on a looong waiting list.

Check it: alexanderwang.com $525

"It" bags

The press declared the death of the “It Bag” upon the birth of the recession.. but if you ask me this looks a little suspicious.

All About-Katie Holmes' Chloe Python Marcie Bag

It's amazing how transforming some marriages turn out to be...remember Angelina-pre-Brad, rocking Billy Bob's blood around her neck?  And Katie Holmes, when she was just plain jane Joey, from Dawson's Creek?  She definitely wasn't setting off any trends back in the day.  Check out the new Chloe' python "Marcie" top handle bag she was carrying around everywhere last week.

So hot...I may not have Brad or Tom, but having "Marcie" around could transform anyone into a trendsetter.

Get this bag at Matches Fashion.

Chanel Coco Cocoon-Hot Bag for the Cool Peeps?

Hmm, okay, I have to admit that I wasn't jumping on the Chanel Coco Cocoon bandwagon...perhaps it was their choice of spokesperson-Lily Allen?  Not exactly a style arbiter.  But, they are starting to grow on me a bit and I'm sort of jonesing for the red one that Cameron Diaz has been carrying around...maybe it's the cold snap and the emergence of puff coats EVERYWHERE-but it seems like All of the sudden, All of the cool people are rocking the CCCs!  SJP, Gwen, Rihanna...need I say more?

Searching For: The Perfect Clutch

Lately, I have noticed that although I seem to own a ton of bags, I never have the "right" clutch for a night out on the town! It's either too much bling bling, not the right color or so on and so forth. This is a tragic dilemma-it reminds me of one of my favorite satirical poems, Nothing to Wear by William Allen Butler. Therefore, I am on a full on quest for the perfect, simple, chic clutch. Check out a few of my discoveries:

Maison Martin Margiela, Leather Strip Clutch $500- This is hot and it reminds me of that get-up Rihanna wore to the AMAs. And who doesn't need a fab white clutch?

Katherine Kwei "Donna" Clutch $700 in Camel lambskin with Swarovski crystals: Okay, this has a little bling bling, but I can't resist it. Katherine Kwei has the most unique and beautifully made bags that I have seen in a long time. Plus, she is on the cusp of becoming BIG and I love grabbing a hot designer on the rise! Check out Eva Longoria carrying her "KK-Donna".

I love the simplicity of this Adriana Castro "Nina" Clutch that Kim Kardashian was rocking in Miami on Superbowl weekend. The Nina clutch will be available in crocodile for $1495, lizard for $1,160 and python for $945. This bag is not available yet, but you can email info@adriannacastroonline.com to secure your Nina clutch from the Fall 2010 collection.

Jimmy Choo Candy Acrylic Shoulder Clutch $495- I am Beyond obsessed with this clutch. What an amazing pop of color and so on trend for spring-but I would totally carry this clutch all year round-look how great it looks with this all black ensemble.

Balenciaga-Forever Cool

You know what I love?  Buying a really expensive and trendy bag, only to realize five years later that it has achieved classic status!  Such is the case with Balenciaga-any style.  Flash back:  2005, Sienna Miller, Motorcycle Le Dix bag.  Of course I purchased, thinking it would be a flash in the pan, hot for maaaaybe one season.  Folly, I told myself!  One of those rare occasions I am glad to be proven wrong.  Check it-Beyonce and Mary Kate rocking their Balenciagas this week.  Loves it!

Kate Moss & Longchamp: A marriage made in heaven?

What is it about Kate Moss that makes her the ultimate trend launcher? (rocker chic-check, skinny jeans-check, wellies for festing-check).  Obvsi Kate has that intangible somethin' somethin'.  Lately, she has been sporting around the pretty cool and classic looking Longchamp "Gloucester" bag, which she helped design...So we know that she has a monetary stake in promoting (by carrying) this bag... does knowing this strip away a little bit of its "desirability" factor?  What say you?  I say yes.

Available at Longchamp for $990 beginning February 11, 2010

A Louis Vuitton Trashbag Purse For $2000 Is All Sorts Of Ridiculous

Well, this is ridiculous. Remember the ugliness that was Louis Vuitton spring '10? Here's the latest accessory to hit the market: The "Raindrop Besace" purse that retails for a jaw-dropping $1960. To be fair, perhaps Marc Jacobs was going for that whole postmodernist thing about reappropriating culturally base materials and turning them into status symbols and whatever—but when you boil it all down, it's still just a trash bag with a leather handle that costs as much as a month's worth of rent. If you're kooky enough to purchase one yourself, just remember the words of sage, Pauly D: "And in walks this girl with like garbage bags. I thought that was kinda like ghetto, and like...weird." Our thoughts, exactly. (Trend Hunter)

Chanel-Not just for the ladies who lunch!

Remember when a Chanel handbag conjured up the image of socialites lunching on the upper east side?  In my opinion, there is nothing more chic than throwing on your leather leggings, edgy jewelry (hello Dannijo!) and a fab Chanel bag.  One of my style idols, Taylor Jacobsonn, does this perfectly and looks beyond amazing.   Rachel and Taylor-destined to fizzle...but this look is the total shizzle!

Check out Fashionphile.com for a good selection of authentic, gently used Chanel.

My Current Obsession: Angel Jackson Handbags

We Americans have fabulous style but there are some imports that deserve our respect and attention. Behold the next "BIG THING" to hit the U.S. handbag market- Angel Jackson.

Their bags are absolutely gorge. And currently only available at DesignerSocial. But they just swept the Vogue UK award for "Best New Accessories Designer" so chances are, come Spring, they'll be everywhere.

Lilo may be crazy, but her taste in bags isn't!

If I could marry a bag, I would be Mrs. "Alexander Wang-Donna Washed Hobo in Sand".   The color is the perfect nude, not too pink and with a touch of gray.  The strap is long enough to be worn cross body or just over the shoulder.   The leather is so soft, it's "ba-nanas".  But my favorite thing is-the pockets on the outside-easy access to your cell, lip gloss or credit card.
Available at http://www.barneys.com/ for $795.00.
